Winkler Woods & Hiwoodo Project Overview with Seamless E-commerce Integration

Winkler Woods LLC, renowned for Hawaiian hardwood manufacturing and distribution, partners with Hiwoodo in Japan. Established in 2002 by Jorma Winkler, the company has excelled in providing premium Hawaiian Koa wood for instruments, furniture, and veneers. With HashiCom's Japan localization skills, we designed Hiwoodo's site to reflect Winkler Woods' quality, catering to our Japanese customers. Hiwoodo works alongside Winkler Woods under Maikai Wood Hawaii, delivering quality hardwoods globally and strengthening our international presence. Awarded Hawaii’s exporter of the year in 2017, our collaboration showcases our global reach and commitment to a unified customer experience.

Challenges: Crafting a Japanese Online Presence

Winkler Woods faced the complex task of operating without a native Japanese e-commerce platform, which was crucial for engaging directly with the Japanese market. The existing CMS posed integration issues, lacking essential web hosting and security features and presenting compatibility challenges with vital third-party applications necessary for streamlining our online store operations.

Solutions: Localized E-commerce Strategy and Expansion

Leveraging our Japan localization expertise, we developed a dual solution. Firstly, we transitioned Winkler Woods’ e-commerce site to Shopify, which inherently provided robust hosting and security. This move eliminated the need for separate SSL certificate purchases and ensured seamless application integration for enhanced social media and email marketing, sales channels, POS systems, and accounting with Quickbooks. Secondly, recognizing the importance of a direct connection with Japanese customers, we created Hiwoodo — a localized Japanese website that mirrors the quality and service of Winkler Woods, thus broadening market reach and significantly boosting sales and customer experience. This strategic expansion resolved the absence of a Japanese e-commerce site and positioned Winkler Woods for heightened success in one of our key international markets.

Leolani Ukulele Project Overview with Comprehensive Japan Operations

Leolani Ukulele, born from Jenny Liu's vision in 2002, has grown from its deep Hawaiian roots to deliver the island's treasured ukuleles globally. Celebrating a tradition of meticulous craftsmanship with hardwoods like Koa and Mango, Leolani today stands as a testament to quality and cultural heritage. With HashiCom's Japan localization expertise, we've taken Leolani's legacy further, establishing not just an online presence but also a physical operational base in Japan, fostering a deeper engagement with local consumers.

Challenges: Bridging Digital and Physical Domains

Leolani’s expansion vision was dual-faceted—aiming to build a localized e-commerce platform and physical distribution within Japan. The challenge lay in harmonizing online presence with an on-the-ground operational strategy to offer bundled products and handle intricate logistics for both US and Japan markets.

Solutions: Seamless E-commerce Integration and Localized Operations

Utilizing Shopify's versatile capabilities, we developed a localized e-commerce portal, Hiwoodo, to align with Leolani's physical expansion. We managed comprehensive localization including product translations, integrating bundle sales, and advanced shipping solutions. From Leolani's central hub in Japan, we streamlined inventory management, order fulfillment, and customer support. This strategy ensured Leolani Ukulele could resonate with Japanese enthusiasts both online and through a tangible, authentic presence, enhancing the cultural connection and market reach.
